Dialectic Design was discovered when I was looking for inward inspiration rather than following the industry norms. I wanted to look toward my cultural past for inspiration to create something new while also making it personal to myself. On this journey I discovered that graphic design has a similar dialect to language in the way that the little nuances in design reveal the designer’s past. These little details in design can give away a designer’s work or can even show where that designer practiced and learned the trade.
By analyzing dialects found in design, we can not only unlock a different perspective of viewing design but we are able to create a personal connection with the designer and their experiences. I want to free these dialects so that they can be the focus of designs but also to unlock new ways of inspiration so that design can become more varied but personal.
